Man stabbed at Sarasota Library

SARASOTA, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Sarasota Police said they are investigating a stabbing at a local library.

Police said it happened Friday morning at 11:10 inside the Selby Library, which is located at 1331 1st Street.

Police said 27-year-old Andrew Timshin and 26-year-old Marcus Colbert were on the second floor near the computers when they became involved in an altercation. 

According to witnesses, police said during the course of the altercation, Timshin stabbed Colbert.

When officers arrived, police said they were directed upstairs where Timshin was sitting near the computers. Police said he was cooperative, placed into custody, and Timshin was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and taken to the Sarasota County Jail.

Police said Colbert was treated for wounds to his right shoulder and left side of his neck and then taken by helicopter to an area hospital in stable condition.
