Authorities: Ground shift at Tampa home not caused by sinkhole

TAMPA, Fla. - Tampa Code Enforcement and engineers with Citizens Property Insurance Co. say it was not sinkhole activity, as originally thought, that caused a family of seven to flee their home Monday night.

Tampa Police responded Monday night and said the ground shifted under the home at 2103 West Sligh Ave. around 7:30 p.m.Tampa Fire Rescue and engineers from the homeowner's insurance company were on scene Tuesday morning and say there are no indications of an active sinkhole. Instead, they blame the problem on faulty tile installation.
